North-East England Novels

The Moorton Comunity books are a series of contemporary novels set in the fictional former mining community of Moorton in the North-East of England. The first of the novels sees the town of Moorton through the eyes of young people and social work staff as they address the county lines drug problem infesting the area. Then there is the curious background of the protagonist Clynton Laurent, a teenager lost in the care system through the actions of corrupt police officers who are desperate to hide their own past crimes. The novels explore friendships and loyalties against a background of urban decay and secretive forces at work that are slowly revealed. The books, often inspired by true events and written by a former social work manager, will also be welcomed by those who enjoy gritty, realistic, while often emotional and funny urban drama.
